1. Phase 3 at a Glance

English — Phase 3 was about the ground and the radio: confusing taxi clearances, runway incursions, wrong readbacks, radio failure, blocked transmissions, NOTAM conflicts, FOD, drones, blocked gates, follow-me mix-ups, guidance failures, vehicle conflicts, pushback trouble, and closures your eyes found before the tower did. One thread runs through all of it: certainty before movement. If you are not sure — of the route, the runway, the car, the clearance — you stop, you ask, and you say "unable" when the answer isn't good enough.

Situation: Taxiing out at a busy airport, your taxi clearance was partly blocked by another transmission — and when you finally reached the intersection, the taxiway signs did not match what you expected. Describe what happened and how you handled it.

모범답안 — Q1 (예시, 말하기체)

We were taxiing out during a busy departure push, and the ground frequency was saturated. When our taxi clearance came, another aircraft transmitted at the same moment — all we heard was fragments. A fragment is not a clearance, so we stayed put and called, "Say again, you were blocked." The second time it came through clean: runway 33 via Alpha and Bravo 3.

Then, at the Bravo intersection, the signs did not match our chart — Bravo 3 led away from the runway. We weren't sure whether the route was correct, so we stopped, held position, and queried it, telling the controller what our chart showed. He checked, corrected the clearance to Bravo 1, and thanked us for asking.

The corrected route still crossed runway 28, so we held short there until we received an explicit crossing clearance, and then we taxied to the runway and departed normally. In the end, two boring habits — asking again and stopping early — did all the safety work.

모범답안 — Q2 (예시)

Looking at the whole chain, the controller recovered well twice. When the frequency blocked our clearance, he re-issued it cleanly instead of rushing; and when we pushed back on the routing with what our chart showed, he checked and corrected it rather than repeating himself. The crossing clearance for runway 28 was explicit and unhurried — exactly what you want on a saturated morning.

If anything, the setup invited both problems: a long route, given fast, in one call, on a frequency that busy. Splitting the clearance into two shorter calls would have prevented the block and probably the confusion too. That said, every recovery worked because both sides kept the same habit — check before you move.

• unable / say again / confirm을 주저 없이, 제때 말할 수 있다.
