문법은 지시를 받았다고 말하는 be asked/told to입니다.

1. Scenario

I was the First Officer of HL123, in the cruise, when our company called us on the company frequency: a bomb threat had been made against our flight, and their security team was treating it as credible.

You land as if it is real — that decision takes no time at all. We declared an emergency with ATC, reported a bomb threat on board, and requested an immediate descent to the nearest suitable airport. ATC asked the standard questions — souls on board, fuel remaining, any dangerous goods — and we answered them one by one.

Then came the request that matters on a day like this: we asked for the isolated parking position, with security and the fire service to meet us, and steps and buses for the passengers, since the isolated stand has no jet bridge. ATC had all of it arranged before we started the approach, and the route ahead of us was cleared completely.

We landed, taxied straight to the isolated position, shut down, and the passengers went down the steps and onto buses, away from the aircraft. From there it belonged to the security teams. We never found out whether the threat was real — and that is the point: you handle it as if it is.

2. At a Glance

English — Our company relayed a bomb threat against the flight, assessed as credible. We declared an emergency, answered ATC's standard questions — souls on board, fuel, dangerous goods — and made the one request that defines this day: the isolated parking position, with security, fire service, steps and buses. ATC cleared the road ahead and had everything waiting; after landing, the passengers left by steps and buses, and the security teams took over. The rule: treat it as real, get on the ground, park it away from everyone, and hand it to security.

7. Common Mistakes → Better Phrasing

Someone said bomb in our plane. Our company relayed a bomb threat against the flight.
Maybe it's fake but scary. We treated it as real — that decision takes no time.
We told ATC everything. We declared an emergency and reported a bomb threat on board.
Park far away please. We requested the isolated parking position.
People go out by stairs. The passengers deplaned by steps and buses, away from the aircraft.
We checked the bomb. The search belonged to the security specialists, not the crew.

8. Grammar Point — be asked / be told + to부정사

  • We were asked to confirm souls on board and fuel.
  • We were told to taxi straight to the isolated position.
  • The passengers were asked to leave everything and board the buses.

핵심: be asked to(요청받다) / be told to(지시받다).

9. Model Answer — Q1

"What happened to your aircraft? Explain the nature of the incident."

In the cruise, our company called us on the company frequency: a bomb threat had been made against our flight, and their security team assessed it as credible. You treat that as real — the decision to land takes no time at all.

We declared an emergency, reported the threat, and requested an immediate descent to the nearest suitable airport. ATC asked the standard questions — souls on board, fuel remaining, dangerous goods — and we answered one by one. Then the key request: the isolated parking position, with security and the fire service to meet us, and steps and buses for the passengers. Everything was arranged before we began the approach, and the route ahead of us was cleared.

We landed, taxied straight to the isolated position, and the passengers deplaned onto buses, away from the aircraft. We never learned whether the threat was real — and that is the point: you land as if it is.

10. Model Answer — Q2

"How do you think ATC handled the situation? Could it have been handled differently?"

Under that kind of pressure, what impressed me was how little we had to ask twice. The descent came immediately, the road to the runway was simply empty, and when we asked for the isolated position with steps and buses, the answer was "all arranged" — not "standby." The standard questions were asked once, early, and never repeated.

If I had to improve one thing, it would be the shape of those questions: they came as one long transmission — souls, fuel, dangerous goods, intentions — right while we were starting the descent and briefing. Splitting them into two short calls would have cost nothing and fitted our workload better. That aside, it was calm, fast, and exactly what a crew needs on a day nobody rehearses for.

11. Follow-up Q&A

  1. How do line pilots usually handle a bomb threat? → Most threats arrive through the company, not the cabin. You treat it as real, get on the ground, park at the isolated position, and hand the aircraft to security — assessing and searching is their profession, not ours.
  2. Why the isolated parking position? → It keeps the aircraft away from the terminal, other aircraft, and people, so whatever happens next affects no one else.
  3. What are the standard ATC questions in an emergency? → Souls on board, fuel remaining, and any dangerous goods — they size the rescue response with those three answers.
  4. Why didn't you evacuate on the runway? → Nothing on board suggested immediate danger, so a controlled deplaning by steps at the isolated stand was safer than an emergency evacuation, which causes injuries of its own.
